The Roll on Sleep Aid

Since I have the time, I will write another review of something I bought recently. This is a roll on sleep aid that I bought from Eu Yang Sang recently. It costs about $16.00 and I was interested in this because I do get insomnia once a while.

To use it, you'll have to roll it on your wrists, temples, side of neck area and under your nose. These are the areas that the essential oil is best absorbed in. The smell is very nice. I think I smell the lavender the most and I love it. The ingredients include sweet almond, lavender, peel oil and flower oil. There are more but I'm too lazy to type everything.

And the verdict....honestly, it didn't put me to sleep every night. There are nights that I still woke up to stare at the ceiling. I have been having insomnia every few days and this has been going on for years. But back to the review, the smell is nice and soothing and I love the smell. This is not a drug. It's just a form of aromatherapy. Buy it for the smell. It does not guarantee a good night's sleep. There you go...take a whiff and enjoy the scent. Mmmm....

The Rimba Samba

This is the Rimba Samba from Salad Stop. It's another of their signature salads on their menu.  It has pumpkin quinoa patties which taste really delicious, mangoes that are nice and sweet, cucumber, lentils, pomelo and romaine lettuce. For the dressing, they use the acai vinaigrette. Seriously, I don't know the names of all my vegetables and I'm learning their names quickly by studying the menu and eating it at the same time. Haha!

The Rimba Samba is one of my favourite signature salads. The other one is the Habibi Salad which I had forgotten to do a proper review of recently. You will find its picture in my previous posts. I prefer salad dressings that are not creamy because creamy dressings give me a bloated stomach. I ate one with the Indian spiced yogurt and I felt bloated after that.

The ones with the raw onions can be overpowering. It also leaves behind a strong after taste and smell. But I was told that raw onions have very high anti oxidants.

The picture above was presented in a bowl because I ate over there. Most of the time I would pack it back to the office to eat. Anyway, it was a good salad lunch. Yummy!

I love eating salads

As part of my effort to eat healthily, I do eat salads for lunch every once in a while. Here are a couple of salads that I have eaten from Salad Stop that is near my workplace. My favourite signature salads are Habibi and the one with the pumpkin (I forgot the name). The safest salads for beginners is the Caesar salad but the salad  dressing for Caesar is creamy and makes me bloated. Habibi is nice because I like the potatoes in it. The one with the pumpkin is also nice. The salads that use vinaigrette as the dressing are healthier as they are not creamy. I don't like the ones that come with raw onions and they can be very overpowering in the taste but also strong in antioxidants.

For those who prefer to plan ahead before queuing, it's best to study the ingredients on the website before coming down. I did that because I don't know the names of my salads very well. Haha! There are other competitors in the market such as Simply Wraps and Sumo Salads. I found 2 at the basement of Raffles City but I've yet to try it.

Below are all the snapshots of the salads I've eaten at salad stop.

More On Aloe Vera Gel

I read from the net that Aloe Vera Gels can also be used on face, mouth ulcers, cuts, sun burns, pimples, rashes, insect bites, piles.....you can also use it on your face, scalp, mix it with shampoo, use it as a conditioner or hair mask. It's nature's wonder cure for a number of things. Anything that is natural is from God so you can't go wrong with it. I went to the pharmacy and found another brand of Aloe Vera Gel. I bought this for only $3.75. This is the smallest bottle of 10ml. There are larger bottles too and the biggest tube costs about $20+. I hear that this is one of the well known brands in the market. I saw this online too. They have a webpage for this.

I'm going to mix some with my shampoo as I have oily scalp and I drop a lot of hair. I will still use my bodyshop gel on my eczema skin on my leg. Let's see how the results go.

Update on Applying Aloe Vera on Eczema

I'm so excited and I have to report that.....my eczema patches are smaller and lighter in color! A few hours ago, I kept on applying Aloe Vera gel whenever it itches and did not scratch one bit. It was pure self control. I had to do it repeatedly for a while till I went to sleep and I had slept peacefully throughout the night. And now it's the next morning and I am pleased to note that the patches look a lot lighter in color. I hope it disappears over the next few days.

More on Aloe Vera Gels and Plants

Oh just a quick post in addition to the earlier post on the Aloe Vera Soothing Gel. I googled and found that you can also buy Aloe Vera Gels at any pharmacies and there are other brands besides BodyShop. Also, if you still have doubts about how natural these gels are from the pharmacies, you can also buy the Aloe Vera leaves from the supermarket and cut up the leaves to extract the gels to rub on your skin directly. No kidding. They also work but it's a bit troublesome to cut the leaves and put the gooey stuff in a container. So buying it off the shelf is good for lazy people like myself.

For those of you with green fingers, you may consider growing the aleo vera plant at home and cutting the leaves whenever you need them. I'm not sure if they grow well in our humid climate, but for those of you residing elsewhere, you should have no problems. Cheers!

Aloe Soothing Gel works on eczema skin!

I bought this Aloe Soothing Gel sometime ago from bodyshop because I have sensitive skin and it is actually meant for the face. Well, I decided to try it on my eczema skin on the leg and found that it really does soothes the itch! Whenever it itches, I have to refrain from scratching or it will get worser. And I have to avoid tearing the skin too. So I just reach for my tube of aloe soothing gel and apply it. The itch immediately goes away because the gel feels cooling and nice and I feel relieve. Isn't that great! This product is found under the facial section but I found that works on any part of the body. Aloe Vera is known to be a natural soothing agent so it's quite safe to use. One tube costs $24.90. I now bring it to the office and whenever I go. If you are having eczema and want to stop that itch, give this a try. You may also want to try aloe Vera from the supermarket but I don't know how to use that.  But of course, you'll still have to see a dermatologist for proper treatment at the same time. I always hate steroid creams so I keep that to the minimal. Stop the application of steroids once it turns brown. I've been through this cycle several times....and I know the key is to stop scratching. Remember, no scratching ....and may the force be with you.

Chocolate Devotion Ice Cream From Cold Stone Creamery

This is the Chocolate Devotion Ice Cream which I ate at Cold Stone Creamery. At first I had avoided this store because I thought it was just sweet cream or buttery stuff but I later realize that they sell icecream, icecream cakes, shakes and smoothies.

I selected chocolate devotion because I asked the lady to recommend something for a chocolate fan like myself. The ice cream is chocolate mixed with chocolate chips, brownie and fudge. It is highly recommended for only the serious chocoholics. I enjoyed it very much. The ice cream was rich and thick in flavor. The chocolate chip, fudge and soft brownie were nicely mixed in between the chocolate ice cream to give it the nice cocoa taste.. You can also request to add waffles around it if you like but no, I prefer it without the waffles. There are also toppings that you can add for more flavors.

I may come back for the cookie minister or mint mint chocolate chocolate chip at my next round because I also fancy chocolate mint ice cream. Also on the menu is the Oreo Overload but I might avoid this one because the ice cream base is sweet cream ice cream so that one is out for me.

I have yet to try the ice cream cakes too. Hey, I am writing this for free. I don't mind if they want to give me a free cake or ice cream to get another review here (hint, hint) but I know it's fat hopes. Anyway, you can find Cold Stone Creamery at citylink mall, orchard central and Vivocity. Enjoy. And share with me your review if you tried something similar.
